| It all comes down to you |

This blog is all about this amazing woman that inspires us to be the best version of ourselves. Meryl is someone we admire, her strength, her passion for life, her motherhood and life journey. She is someone that truly empowers us to be our best, and I think so many people around the world could do with someone who is truly inspiring like Meryl in their lives.

A wise woman once said: “Stepping up, speaking loudly, taking chances & running risks to achieve your goals and to be able to serve means to overcome fear. It doesn’t mean to live without fear completely, because if you did you’ll never challenge yourself. If you’re never scared you can never be brave. But you can learn to embrace and overcome the fear and turn it into motivation”.

Motivation is exactly what has empowered her to achieve some of her goals in life. First up, she’s the the founder of Macarthur Ladies night which is coming up to its, wait for it - eleventh year! (yes I said eleven). Talk about amazing. Meryl, the driving force, along with other committed and heartfelt women within our community put on this event year after year, raising much needed funds for the Macarthur Cancer Therapy Centre in funding the Wig library. The next Macarthur ladies night out is on September 21. And this is only just the beginning.

Along with any mum, Meryl is extremely proud of all three of her three amazing children and her husband, Christian.

She says she’s proud of many things in my life, but “nothing beats being a mother and a wife”.

“It’s madness, but the best madness. Motherhood is a gift and I know after watching my mum do it, it’s not easy, especially when trying to balance a career”. Meryl says.

If she doesn’t do enough already, this year she has willingly stepped out of her comfort zone and has committed to stand in the blue corner to raise funds for brain cancer research. The corporate clash which has astoundingly raised over $600,000 since it debuted in 2014.

The great thing in this world is not so much where you stand, it’s what direction you are moving. You miss 100% of the shots you don’t take. And she’s taking all of the shots she can.

She says “The thing about the big things, or at least most big things, is they take some time to accomplish”.

Starting a brand new job in an entirely different industry, changing her diet and getting in shape, making a difference in the community, and selling people’s biggest and most prized possessions… property. These things are done step by step, bit by bit, and although they can be life-changingly awesome, the fact remains they’re all long-term goals. Huge, wonderful, inspiring goals, yes, but in the meantime, she’s still got her everyday life to live.

She’s still got to do the dishes, walk the dog, go grocery shopping. It’s so easy for her to dismiss these things as frustrating, and things that need to be gotten through as quickly as possible so she can get on to the more important stuff. But these little things make up her life. These little things are her present. And how she approaches them determines how awesome or not-so-awesome her present will be.

Life is what happens to you while you’re busy making other plans.

Her life is shaped by the way she approaches the small things.

Whether she approaches a grocery run braced to fight her way through crowds or happy to be out and about.

Whether she grumbles her way through her daily tasks, or realises that this thing she’s doing is pretty damn awesome. Satisfaction for Meryl comes from helping people, getting great results and that gives her the ultimate drive to stay motivated.

Meryl, you deserve to live a life that matters, right now today, even when you’re doing the things that seem mundane and tedious. You deserve to go to sleep each night knowing you’ve kicked some tail in everything you did, whether it was securing a new deal at work or sweeping dog fur from your floors. You not only deserve it; you owe it to yourself.

Because Meryl is all about living intentionally. It doesn’t matter what it is she’s living at the moment — she takes its name, kicks its tail, and feels more like her LaMacchia self because of it. She doesn’t hold back. She doesn’t live stingily.

So, how about you? What “little things” can you bring some greatness to?
